All of our family lives far away and my kids really miss Grandma and Papa when they haven’t seen them for a while.  We recently went on a trip to Disney World and one of our sponsors was Ripple Reader.  I agreed to try their product and I have to say that it has brought my kids and Grandma and Papa endless joy!

Ripple Reader is a web-based tool that lets you make private recordings of children’s picture books and send those recordings electronically to the special kids in your life. Recipients will be able to keep the recordings for a lifetime and listen to them over and over again, following along with the actual book in their lap.

My mom and stepfather used their computer microphone to record the books of their choosing for my kids and my kids then opened up their Ripple Reader on the desktop or laptop and listened to the book read by Grandma and Papa while they turned the pages and saw the illustrations and words on the computer.

All you need to use Ripple Reader is a microphone and a free Ripple Reader account.

You can see how what Ripple Reader looks like below:

Ripple Reader also has a program called Operation HomeFront where you can help a deployed soldier read a story for loved ones back home.

Ripple and Operation HomefrontI like that you can also buy Ripple Reader gift cards because they make a WONDERFUL gift! Think of those you know who are away from loved ones, whether they are in the Military, far away from grandparents, divorce situations, terminal illness, on long business trips, etc.

Here’s how it works:

Pick a book from the Ripple Library.
Choose the child(ren) you want to read it to.

Read it aloud into Ripple’s digital recorder.

It’s that easy!!!
